The Past Is An Alien Planet is an experimental movie presented in the last solo exhibition of Kadir Kayserilioglu carrying the same name. In this project the artist explores the gap between his personal history and the macro-history that is compiled around ideas of capitalism and progressive society. The movie starts with a personal research following the reminiscence of a childhood memory and the Starlink project run by Elon Musk. Through this connection the artist builds a narrative that combines simulation and real-life events. His 8 months long research consists of UFO stories in popular culture, satellite accidents, disaster scenarios, technocracy, temporariness and new companionships which are built around the same temporariness are all included in this narrative.

The Past Is An Alien Planet criticizes the fetishized trans-humanist idea of being immortal by choosing a personal approach containing confessions and flukes. Thus, the video invites viewers to a visual journey of free association by bouncing from one subject to another.
